El Hoyo Volcano offers a hiking route with an ascent of approximately 8 km, considered moderate to high in difficulty. The full round-trip takes around 7 hours, including both the ascent and descent — making it a rewarding challenge for adventure seekers.

Climb to the Summit:

Hike through rocky terrain, climb past ancient volcanic cones, and reach the Summit where you’ll enjoy sweeping views of the León plains, Asososca Lagoon, Lake Xolotlán, and several surrounding volcanoes—including the iconic Momotombo.

The trail includes three dramatic craters, with vertical walls up to 400 meters wide. At the top, you’ll witness volcanic activity up close with a live fumarole..

Camping al volcán El Hoyo: vive la aventura de noche

Si prefieres una experiencia más completa, el tour de camping te ofrece la oportunidad de disfrutar de una noche bajo las estrellas.

El recorrido comienza a las 1:30 pm, con una llegada aproximada al pie del volcán a las 2:45 pm. Desde allí, comenzarás la subida hacia la cima para disfrutar de una vista panorámica del cráter y el complejo volcánico, y contemplar el atardecer desde una altura de 1050 metros.

Posteriormente, acampamos cerca del volcán, disfrutarás de una cena en una fogata y podrás despertar temprano para apreciar el amanecer desde lo alto.

La experiencia del volcán el Hoyo es una de las más emocionantes que puedes vivir en Nicaragua.
